Privacy Policy for WorkSmith Apps

WorkSmith Apps ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard information you provide while using our Google Docs add-ons, including Doc Sizer, SprintBar and KDP Doc Sizer.

1. Information We Collect We may collect limited personal information, including:

Your email address (used to verify your license status)
Usage data (e.g. how many times you've used the add-on)
Document content accessed at the time you use one of our add-ons inside a Google Doc. This content is processed transiently in memory to deliver the add-on's functionality and is never stored on our servers, logged, or transmitted to any third party.

2. How We Use Your Information We use the collected data to:

Authenticate and authorize user access to features. We may collect your email for license verification only. We do not sell user data.
Provide support and updates
Monitor and improve our products

3. Data Storage and Security

We apply the following protections to your data:

Encryption in transit: All communication between our add-ons, our licensing backend, and our payment provider is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
Encryption at rest: License records are stored in Google Workspace (Sheets), which encrypts data at rest by default. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified provider; we never store card details on our systems.
Access control: Access to license and account systems is restricted to authorized WorkSmith Apps personnel via individually authenticated Google accounts with two-factor authentication enabled.
Document content: Document content accessed by our add-ons (under scopes such as documents.currentonly) is read on-demand during the user's active session, processed in memory only, and is never persisted, logged, or shared.
Data minimization: We collect only the data strictly necessary to operate license verification and deliver the add-on's stated functionality.
Data retention: License records (email + purchase status) are retained for as long as the user holds an active subscription, and for a reasonable period afterward to support refunds, dispute resolution, and tax/accounting obligations. Users may request deletion at any time (see Section 5).

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.

4. Third-Party Services Our add-ons may interact with Google services (Docs, Sheets, Apps Script) and optionally with Stripe for payments. These services are governed by their own privacy policies:

5. Google API Services User Data Policy
WorkSmith Apps' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

We only request the minimum OAuth scopes necessary for each add-on's stated functionality.
We do not use Google user data for advertising, retargeting, or to train generalized AI/ML models.
We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve user-facing features of our add-ons, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with appropriate notice.
Human access to Google user data is not permitted except: with the user's explicit consent for specific support cases; where necessary for security purposes (e.g. investigating abuse); to comply with applicable law; or for internal operations where the data has been aggregated and anonymized.

6. Your Rights You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.

7. Changes to This Policy We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified through our website.
